It Really Is All About the Child?

|

How about me? Aren't my interests as the parent as equally as important as the interests of our children?

The Court's utmost priority and goal is to protect the health, safety, and welfare of the child, while ensuring the frequent and continuing contact of the child with both parents. The parent's interest cannot be considered by the Court EXCEPT as it effects the best interest of the child. In other words, the best interest of the child must be elevated above those of the parents.

The Court is not interested in what is or is not convenient to the parent or whether the parent prefers a return day of Monday rather than Sunday. If this preference is contrary to the best interest of the child, the Court will not make that order. I cannot stress hard enough the need to know your judicial officer as to what views they pose in different issues and the like. If you need assistance in creating a parenting plan that considers your interests and also considers the child's best interest, contact Covina attorney Paul Eads today.
